Welcome to the Department of Physical Education
Established in 1968, the Department has produced a number of sporting heroes and heroines who won many prestigious and coveted honours including four Padmasrees (Dr. P.T.Usha, M.D.Valsamma, Anju Bobby George and Late Jimmy George), Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (The highest National Sports Award - Anju Bobby George), Dronacharya Award (The National Award for Coaches- Robert Bobby George) and Arjuna Awards (The National Award for Sportspersons (1) Dr. P.T.Usha (2) M.D.Valsamma (3) Anju Bobby George(4) Saramma K. (5) Rosakutty, (6) Mercy Mathew (7) Sinimole Paulose (8) Joseph Abraham and (9) Tintu Luka { all athletics}. (10) Late Jimmy George (11) Cyril.C.Vellore and (12) Saly Joseph { all volleyball},(13) George Thomas and (14)Diju V.V. { both Badminton}. Out of which four were awarded Arjuna Award between 2010 & 2015.
